Gypsy Prom was originated by the Junk Gypsies from Round Top, Texas. I had no idea what to expect, but we are always up for an adventure. We spent weeks researching and shopping for our outfits which including many adventurous shopping trips with plenty of laughter.
We were packed and traveling south bound to the big city of Round Top, Texas where Antique Week took place and thousands traveled there for shopping. Lodging is scarce and we were lucky to find a room at America’s Best Value Inn. We learned to book a year in advance, if you want to stay at one of the cute, boutique places. When we arrived at the hotel, we primped and dressed for our first “Gypsy Prom;” not having any idea what to expect besides the images we had seen on social media. Our hotel was outside of Round Top about 16 miles and we drove to “Gypsy Prom” in Round Top. The sound of live music lead us to a barn and dance floor full of people drinking, dancing, and singing in a mishmash of outfits.
